What is Colorado United?

The Colorado United Volleyball Club was started by John Chasey and Dawn Ray in the Fall of 2002, and consisted of a single team, an 18 Nationals team (an 18-1 team). Most practices were held in northern Colorado Springs. John was head coach and Dawn was assistant coach for that first Club season, 2002-2003. Initial members of the Colorado United 18 team were:

At the start of the next Club season, 2003-2004, John Chasey and Rob Reynard started the Colorado Performance Volleyball Club, based in Denver, as a logical continuation of the Colorado United Volleyball Club, with a greatly expanded roster for 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 teams. For the 2004-2005 season, a 12-1 team was added. Within the Colorado Performance Club, the 18-1 team, with John Chasey coaching, is always considered to be the new Colorado United team, thus keeping the Colorado United Volleyball Club alive. This Colorado United web site will continue to provide a history of the Colorado United teams, from the original inaugural season as Colorado United and including each new Colorado Performance 18-1 United team.
